Another gorgeous serpent... he was shining golden in the sun..such a beauty!   A Yellow Rat Snake. It's OK...I know my reptiles and would not attempt to get close to a poisonous one.

This part of Florida does have venomous snakes...Coral, Pygmy Rattler, Eastern Diamond back, Water Moccasin and Copperhead.  I relly don't understand why people have a screaming fit and want to kill a snake just because it is a snake! THey are very important to the ecological system.  Learn about them!

Thank you for honoring one of Gods creatures, that so many find it hard to like!

  4. I am totally afraid of them, but like you say, they are part of the system. They could just go their way and I my way. :D have a great week Pam. Take care.

  5. I'll leave the snakes entirely up to you. We do have our share of snakes here on the east coast of Aussie but we respect each other and go our separate ways. Do you like spiders as well?

  6. Ok, ok, I'll accept that snakes are important to the ecological system but what about SPIDERS???? I'm petrified of them and will not accept that they are important!!! hehe xoxo

  7. Snakes and spiders, love em.....The only thing we are encouraged to squash at our house are the roaches {we're in Louisiana so you know what i'm talking about!} Corals are probably my favorites, seen some really really big water moccasins on the bayou growing up....oh, and Ladybugs {for the garden}. We Love Em.

  9. With time I learn to appreciate the snake. I see them in Az. and they are the ones to stand back from. Sad to see them sqished on the highways...they just want to stay warm.Rattle snakes I think . I have a few garden snakes and jump a bit when they appear..slowly I shall overcome my nervous reaction.
    a happy soul aNNa xo

  12. Yes. The eco-system has a place for every creature. All the bugs and bats and snakes and pretty little flowers too. Even us. All part of checks and balances. Unfortunately people forget they are part of it and go around F-ing things up sometimes. Well a lot of times.

  13. I had a "run in" with a Mohave Rattle snake last year near Arcosanti. The snake won, I totally respect them. They play a really important part on this planet. They look creepy but are so cool.

  14. I know they're important to the eco-system, I respect and leave them alone - all I ask is that they do the same ;-)
