THe Raggy Doll story continues..and the find of the year....

We have the best outlet stores here...bar none. One is just a hop ,skip or pedal away. OKay..take a gander at this groovy gypsy necklace! I just happened to spy it hanging amongst
a tangly display of other cute necklaces. I loved it....I desired it ..I looked at the price tag..
It was mine ,,MINE I tell you..mine! ha. originally $90 Whoa! I also get slammin' earrings from there as well for only 3 or 4 bucks. I'll show you those later. Meanwhile I hadda make another raggy for D's friend. I am amazed that the boys want them..but they play and play with them. The boys call their's Groovy Guys (uh I think they've been around me too long already...heh heh) It's hysterical..they tell me exactly how to fashion it.how the eyes look, the mouth.. hair .I love it all.

!

O gave hers an old tent from another doll ..plus we made her a pillow..hey you know a gals gotta have a pillow when camping. We ended up changing out her hair when a more interesting
bit of thread was espied....

Spot and Chloe

Chloe absolutely adores Spot. She will not leave him alone. He tolerates her so well. He wouldn't do this with just any dog! Hope you enjoy watching this..just a little fun ! I am trying to get back into art every day. When I first started blogging it was all about the ART...my blog was even named Art and Soul. I think I am ready to rock and roll with the artiste within..! Since making the Raggy Dolls I have the fever.

Raggy Dolls...

The children wanted to make rag dolls with button eyes after watching Coraline (creepy movie ,if ya ask me!) So..I found a free online pattern HERE { go to free ragdoll pattern } and hand sewed these ....but the muslin frayed really bad so I couldn't turn them inside out. Actually , I like them better this way.
I need pinking shears ..that would help. I did the sewing ,but the kiddos picked out the eyes (ewww, that didn't sound good).......etc.

Goodwill hunting...

Rode the bike to Barefoot Beach and ...on the way back I was irresistibly drawn to 2 Goodwill Stores and piled these in my bike basket. A super funky candle holder for $1 .....
These shoes are so darn cool~ gypsified... and just my size $3 and never worn. They are comfy , I walked around in them.
Okay...this bag was from TJ Maxx ..I love it. If you can read the tag..it is designed by an artist and it was on sale for $10
The Peace' d'resistance (if you will) is this perfect Tee...5 bucks and worth every penny.
Ahhhh ...the hunt was successful!

Reorganizing the art studio...

The art room is tidy , organized and neat. I took a pic because it won't stay like this for long, haha.

I labeled everything ..and hopefully it will help us put things back at the end of our projects! Also we are going to find some formica to put on the top of the art table. It is all coming together! I plan on a sewing area too!

THe sanctuary at Omega...

Another view from the Belvedere.
all in all it was a great trip, aside from the storms, planes delays, getting lost, and our disappointment in the seminar itself. THe 2 people Elizabeth had teaching with her were more of a distraction than any help at all. OMG the guy kept jumping up and playing songs he made up on the spot ..in response to people's problems...cheesy. I wanted to run screaming from the room..aieeee! hahahaha. Let me say that I love Elizabeth Lesser and her books are phenomal ( Broken Open and The Seeker's Guide) She was a key person in Oprah's A New Earth Webinar with Eckart Tolle. I was looking forward t o hearing a lot more from her instead of the other 2 Bozos(you'll understand that term if you read her book...Wavy Gravy said we are all just Bozos on the bus and she quoted him). I think she made a big mistake having the two others with her taking up precious time. She is so wise and spiritual and she "gets" it. Too bad she didn't get it when it came to planning her seminar. Still LOVE her.

The Belvedere Mansion: The Good

Ahhh...the trip had many adventures in store for us ...staying here was incredible! The view of the Hudson valley greeted us for dinner on the veranda. Perfect, cool and not raining the second evening of our stay.!Inside the decor was very Bohemian. The Inn itself is of the Neo -Classical style.
Dinner was fabulous! ..The CIA is right down the road.(.That's Culinary Institute of America for all you non foodies..haha) so top class chefs in the area.

Spectacular surroundings..with vino, fine food, and .....
The sun sinking over the valley.
Entrance to the Inn.
Many long and winding roads on the journey. My niece and I were totally confounded by the lack of signs and the directions given us were b-a-d. ha. It rained like crazy which compounded the problem. The Omega Institute is in a remote part of the area. I am talking REMOTE! haha!
More about the seminar next post! .............

Return, Reflections, Rejuvenating

Woodstock! 40 years later..boy, do I suddenly feel vintage. It was fun to visit...but unfortunately it was cut short by a torrential downpour . I'm talking gully washers. I was just happy to check it out. More photos later. I a m recouping from a rather exhausting trip.THe workshop was good, but not as fufilling as I had hoped. However, sometimes you get the message not from the journey you had expected, rather a discovery of something you had all along. THink: The Wizard of OZ. more later.
