Adventures in Pet Sitting
So...I'm pet sitting in the woods again. Last night I was on the computer and started hearing this little cluk sound..you know like when you put your tongue on the roof of your mouth and make a pop sound. Hmmm I thought what is that..must be the dog thumping it's tail. clok cluk clok..there it is again...go see the dog..nope not the dog..maybe water plopping off something..no. Sit down at the computer again and a couple minutes later I hear a more distinct...yet low clok cluk. I tiptoe into the kitchen from whence this noise is coming.. OHHHH I see Miss Booboo Macaw has entered the room and is making her way up the hand carved wooden bar chair at the counter..trying to be very inconspicuous with that low cluk sound.. DAMN! How am I going to get her back in her room with out injury to me ..or her. I approach with caution LARGE powerful bird with large powerful beak...! SQUAWKKK! attack mode...gingerly I take my foot and move the chair...s l o w l y scoot it towards her room. Boy is she pissed now , she takes a biggo bite out of the aforementioned handcarved bar chair...I grab a broom handle and ease the chair oh so carefully into her cage room Now..how do I get her off the chair? Slowly tilt it back and down to the floor....she hops off and walks around like she owns the place. Oh yeah ,,she does! I scootch the chair back into it's rightful place ..complete with the chunk missing WAAA!

*Shudder* There would have been a small puddle on the kitchen floor, from the adrenaline "leaking out of my ears." Kudos for getting the diva back into her lair without undue ruffled feathers, or an amputated finger. I think you have a way with aminals.
ReplyDeleteMy puddle on the floor would have been something else, and a pretty large one......
ReplyDeleteYou are a trip, Pam! :)))) Pet sitting is always an adventure, eh?
Hugs!

Hi Pam!!
ReplyDeleteI thought you said you were DOG sitting. You get bonus points for Macaw sittin' on the side, don't you? Glad your hand is still intact! We need you here in bloglandia! Have a happy weekend, friend!

Oh Ma-Cawed! I could just see that whole scene playing out - that should be in a movie, lol. Glad the only damage was a little bit to the chair, and not your fingers. Take care!
ReplyDeleteI am a HUGE animal lover yet Birds are the only ones to FREAK ME OUT! I was attacked once by our little parrot Elvis (NO we did NOT name him) I'm forever scared for life. It's something about those beaks o death that give me nightmares. Yet somehow I still think a Macaw is so majestic. Weird. Points to you my dear for handling the situation so bravely!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I see you have a pretty interesting blog which will keep me coming back. I'd be afraid to pet sit big birds like that. You are a brave woman. You go girl! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteBooboo is sharpening her beak for your next visit into the woods. Squaawwk Shriek!!!
ReplyDeleteOf course you know I loved your story and caw's antics. What about pictures next time? No, they don't all look alike. Those tiny feathered lines on their faces are like fingerprints, each different. So let's seeum! Before you don't have fingers to operate the camera. LOL xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteOh my what an adventure you seem to be having. Hey I did the Art on the Darkside Challenge how about you? Love Hugs and Blessings
ReplyDeleteIt's their shifty little beady eyes ~ I am so thankful it was only a hand carved chair and not your arm (or leg). Hope the rest of your sitting is less dramatic, or maybe you like dramatic? Blessings, kt
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though you may have been pet-sitting a long-lost relative of one of my fur-babies! What an adventure indeed!
ReplyDeleteclok, cluk! LOL It's a maCAW?!! That is so appropriate. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteLove birds from a distance, but up close ...no way sistah!
ReplyDeleteYou deserve and award for bravery..!
Well, I don't know whether to laugh or cry listening to this. I would have been on the freaked side. Three cheers for you!
