The curse of the Gypsy...wanderlust

Some of you already know that a couple of years ago  I made a BIG life changing descision t o get rid of everything I owned except what fit in my old 77VW Bus Lucretia..and move from Charleston,SC to Portland Oregon.  My bus had too many problems to make it , so I had to rent a car, but I did it.I miss my VW.  Me and Spot had the best times ever..sipping vino and just chillin'...Going camping or just in the driveway... I still have wanderlust.. I still want to live in my Gypsy Wagon and be free.. I am looking for  another van .  I am feeling those winds of change...~~~“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” –Jawaharial Nehru

  1. I always loved seeing the pictures of your van. It looked so gypsy-ish! And you seemed to have a lot of fun with it. I'm sure you'll find another one and be off on an exciting new adventure before too long!

  4. I've always had the wanderlust in me too. Moved so many times I can't count them all. Don't know what it's like to stay in one spot more than 2 years straight. My mother always made it an adventure for us when we were kids. I think it's just in our blood.

  5. Wow...First I love your VW Van (you had), it's so cool and I can only imagine the fun cross country trips you had made in it. I do hope you find another one and deck it out again. How fun would it be to just pick up and head out not knowing exactly where you're going and just knowing all the cool exciting places you'll see. You're a brave soul indeed. Maybe someday I'll have that freedom too!

Lately my biggest adventure was watching Alice in Wonderland in 3D at the IMAX theatre...LOL! I was beautiful.

    Have a great day!

    Bright blessings,
    Kathy

  6. I love your wanderlust spirit. My husband and I backpacked around Europe for 3 months. Oh to go back to those days! I love the VW van, hope you can find a new one. Have a great week.

  8. You remind me of the heroine in "Chocolate" Have you seen that movie. It is one of my favorites. Johnny Depp adds to the excitement of the movie I must say. I too have wanderlust but in a different way. I must travel constantly. Just got back from Mexico and locked in a trip to Wales, Scotland, England and Ireland for summer. Everywhere I go, I feel like I belong there.
I wonder where you will be off to next....

  9. "Oh that magic feeling... no where to go..."

I say go for it, Pam. The looming peak oil crisis may put a crimp in our mobility pretty soon, unless they come up with greener technology before it hits. It could be fun, though, to chase an average temperature of, say, the mid-70s wherever that leads.

The other approach is to go deeper wherever you already are... assuming one likes it there. That's my bliss now, refining my favorite routines, exploring variation and nuance. I suspect they both lead to the same place.

  10. Dear Gypsy,
This I love about you Pam........your wanderlust spirit~

Because only those who listen will know and only those who are courageous will go. There will always be two paths to take. So many will never try.

Since I don't own a wanderlust spirit, God made me have one. I moved 7 times in 16 years.
It was the best thing to happen.

    So excited for you~
    for your next journey.

  11. Pam, I love your VW and your Spot. How exciting your life must be. We all have our own styles of life and I just am exicted about yours. Think of me when you travel and say, "ah, Gloria is a homebody, so I dedicate this next trip to her." Yes I am a homebody and just have to have roots, but I so admire your ways Pam. Don't forget to always have your computer so you can stop at places where you can "plug in" and let us know what's going on. I know you are not leaving yet, but just a reminder that we are here for you. ::hugs::
